The Divine Word Seminary Riverside Residence
The SVD Riverside residence serves as home to both retired and active Divine Word Missionaries, as well as a Retreat Center. The Hole Mansion aka the Stone House, at the center of the property was built in 1912-13. It became the first chapel, dining area and faculty residence when the minor seminary began in 1964. It now serves as the main chapel for retreat groups, and a Museum. The first building erected was St. Joseph’s Hall, which served as sleeping quarters and classrooms.
In 1967, the larger seminary building, which is now known as the main Retreat Center was constructed.
In 1998, The residence building was completed. It houses the SVD Missionaries in 22 private rooms, has a beautiful chapel, dining room and recreation area.
